this band has been rocking my ipod lately. it is probably a bit different from what is usually found here. but hey, variation is always nice. just straight-forward blues influenced rock n’ roll. sounds very nice. check out the video for “Wild and Young”:
a while back i started a some spotify lists with artist that i thought my friends should know about. then i thought, why stop with my friends, so here we go: i have already made three parts and am currently working on the fourth part.
enjoy:
feel free to have a listen, and drop a comment about things you like or do not like!

i have no idea why i haven’t written anything about the swedish music that we have. check the videos below for a showcase of some of my favorite swedish artists:
we’ll start with christian kjellvander. he’s probably my favorite. mr kjellvander has been in bands such as loosegoats and songs of soil as well as released amazing solo albums. his song “two souls” is the one i’ve been listening to the most lately, check it out.
and just to show how talented he is, here’s the same song stripped down.
moving on to a guy that i discovered recently, thanks to my friend over at la cienega; anton björkenvall. out of nowhere (kiruna) comes this guy and blows me away:
pretty amazing.
someone that you might have heard of outside of sweden is kristofer åström. singer in the band fireside. i, however, prefer his solo albums. here are a couple of songs:
all lovers hell
the wild (with britta persson)
poor young man’s heart
another kristoffer (although with two “f”s) is kristoffer hedberg. another amazing artist from my country:
nyanser av grått
an artist that i listened a lot to a couple of years ago is tomas andersson wij. he’s probably the one who writes the best lyrics in sweden.
tommy och hans mamma
well, i think that’s it for now. it’s past midnight here in sweden and i’m off to bed. i’ll continue with more swedish artists in the future.
later
i’m happy. i got the chance to interview one of my all-time favorite music artists, ari hest. as always, the interview was done for melodic.net and can be found at:
will hoge has a new album out. it’s called the wreckage. it’s pretty damn good. here’s the first single of the album, “even if it breaks your heart”. good to see that will has recovered from his accident and that he still can write good songs.
as bonus i’ll give you two videos. first one is an acoustic version of “even if it breaks your heart” and the second one is an acoustic version of “this highway’s home”.
here are some songs that have been appearing frequently in my ipod lately.
william fitzsimmons – mend your heart. still not tired of this song. still leaves me breathless every time.
joe purdy – sinkin’ low. fantastic song from joe purdy, love everything about it.
ryan star – last train home. possible the song of the year. such an amazing song.
david mcmillin – go easy. listen to the harmonies, fantastic. gives me goosebumps.
matthew ryan – jane, i still feel the same. another one of those songs. simple but yet amazing.
andrew hoover – roses and joy. this guy has a mean falsetto. love this song.
newton faulkner – uncomfortably slow. another one i discovered the other day. love the sound of this one.
enjoy.
here’s a band for you goo goo dolls fans out there. the same kind of rock. this time from a band called five a.m. check them out. their latest (third in total) album “raise the sun” really good. if you’re into said goo goo dolls and that kind of rock you shouldn’t be allowed to miss this. songs such as “say anything” and “fall apart” are so good you’ll probably curse yourself for not knowing this band before.
here are the some songs:
be still
fall apart
the distance
just say anything
you got to love lyrics like these:
“i grab my whiskey and my coke and step out on the stage
and i wait and wait and wait for the light to shine down on me“
