happy 2010! this is also my 50th post on this blog. i’m gonna celebrate that with playing an old song. enjoy.
there will be more posts shortly. new musical discoveries leads to new posts on this blog. hold on.
that’s right! he’s back! the new album “build me this” landed on my hallway floor a couple of days ago, and so far it sounds good. it’s more up-tempo than “the sun is alway brighter” but still it’s recognizable as joshua james. check out the video for the song “weeds”, one of the few slow songs on the album. be sure to check melodic.net in the near future for a review of the album.
anyways, here’s the video:
i think i might have to revise my nomination for the most beautiful song in the world. again, it’s mister william fitzsimmons who delivers. a song from his album goodnight. i honestly get goosebumps every time i listen to this song. the song is called mend your heart. it’s one of those songs that you play over and over and over again without ever growing tired of it.
william fitzsimmons – mend your heart
by the way, william is finally coming to sweden!! i have tickets. i’m happy! can’t wait until november.
this is pretty cool. this is how you make a cover. take a song and make your own version of it.
a song that always gets me, by an artist that always gets me. one of those songs that hit you straight in the heart. it might even bring out a tear sometimes. a song from an album that deals with a divorce, and how no matter what happens now, they will always have the good years. william fizsimmons is a genius, no doubt about it. the mood. the acoustic guitar. the electronic sounds. the voice.
william fitzsimmons – they’ll never take the good years
wow. goosebumps. amazing.
rest in peace
i was lucky to have the chance to interview one of my favorite artists, will hoge. will was hurt pretty badly in a scooter accident a while back. now he’s recovering and making his way back to the music scene.
read the interview at melodic.net:
i cannot believe that i haven’t written very much about this guy yet. this is one of my favorite artists of all time. just listen to his voice! ray lamontagne has the ability to really capture the listener using only his voice. he could perform with just a guitar and vocals and i would still be listening to what he had to say. the songs are often arranged in a simple way, with just a few instruments, but he still manages to deliver songs that go straight through me and deliver chills and goosebumps, in a good way of course. take a listen to the song “empty”, you can really feel how alone and empty the singer feels, just by the mood of the song. it’s amazing. go treat yourself to some ray lamontagne, you deserve it.
ray lamontagne – empty
ray lamontagne – trouble
ray lamontagne – gone away from me
ray lamontagne – hannah
ray lamontagne – forever my friend
damien rice, he’s fucking amazing! this is one of the best songs ever done!
today i posted a review of what, in my humble opinion, is the best album (so far) of 2008
